Afeera Firdous

Afeera Firdous is the Manager of Outreach and Communications at CREST, with over seven years of experience working across both public and private sectors. She has held key roles including Research Associate and Outreach Coordinator at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, as well as Research and Communications Lead at Pakistan Now, the country's leading social media company. Afeera has also contributed her expertise to the Islamabad-based think tank, the Center for International Strategic Studies (CISS).

She earned her M.Phil. in Strategic Studies from the National Defence University in Islamabad. Afeera has extensive international exposure, having participated in the ISODARCO short courses in Cyprus (April 2019) and Italy (January 2020). She has presented at several prestigious international conferences, including the CTBTO Science and Technology Summit in Vienna (2019), the Third Conference of the CICA Non-Governmental Forum in Chongqing, China (2019), and an online course on Cyber Security and Emerging Technologies – Threats and Opportunities for Nuclear Security, organized by King's College London's Centre for Science and Security (CSSS) in 2022.

Afeera's work and writing focus on critical issues such as nuclear non-proliferation, counter-extremism, counter-terrorism, and the intersection of cyber security and emerging technologies.
