Haleema Saadia

Haleema Saadia has experience as both a policy analyst and practitioner, complemented by extensive teaching, research, and community engagement. She has completed several prestigious international fellowships and is a multiple award-winning academic. As part of the pioneering team at CREST, she heads the research pool and remains actively engaged in steering and managing key business operations.

She is an affiliate at the Arms Control Negotiation Academy (ACONA). Haleema was the CRDF Nuclear Security Fellow in 2024 and a South Asia Visiting Fellow at The Stimson Center, Washington D.C. in 2023. She has completed fellowships at Sandia National Laboratories, New Mexico, and the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, California, USA.

Previously, Haleema taught at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) and Fatima Jinnah Women University and worked at the Strategic Plans Division. She is a doctoral candidate at the Centre for International Peace and Stability, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan. Haleema holds an M.Sc. and M.Phil. in Defense and Strategic Studies from Quaid-i-Azam University, where she received the Chancellor’s Medal from the President of Pakistan and the Vice-Chancellor’s Medal for her academic excellence. Her research interests include nuclear nonproliferation, deterrence, arms control, international security, nuclear discourse and identity construction.
