Sajid Aziz

Sajid Aziz is an independent researcher based in Quetta, Balochistan. He specializes in security matters, insurgent movements, and countering violent extremism. With over five years of experience in various research think tanks, Sajid has published numerous research papers and opinion pieces on topics such as the rise of the Islamic State, TTP, and the dynamics of sectarian tensions in Pakistan.

He has collaborated with the UNDP on a project focused on countering violent extremism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, emphasizing a rights-based approach. As a Policy Consultant at the Strategic Policy Planning Cell (SPPC), Sajid developed policy notes and briefs addressing traditional security threats in Pakistan, particularly terrorism and extremism. He has also written on the evolving dynamics of the separatist insurgency in Balochistan, analyzing the changing tactics and strategies of militant groups, and the use of technology by separatist groups to disseminate their propaganda.
